Amazon Acetaminophen Recall Affects More Than 112,000 Bottles
More than 112,000 bottles of Amazon's extra-strength acetaminophen are being recalled after customers reported finding discolored tablets.
The Amazon acetaminophen recall affects specific batches of the popular over-the-counter pain reliever, which was sold nationwide.
If you've purchased a bottle recently, it's worth checking the label. Here's what to look for and what to do if your medication is included.
Why Is Amazon Acetaminophen Being Recalled?
According to the FDA’s enforcement report, Aurobindo Pharma USA initiated the voluntary acetaminophen recall on September 18, 2026.
The company received complaints about discolored tablets in bottles of Amazon Extra Strength Acetaminophen, which has 500 milligrams of the pain-relieving ingredient per caplet. The medication was manufactured in India and distributed nationwide by Amazon.com Services LLC.
The recall involves 112,932 bottles in three different package sizes. The FDA currently lists the recall as ongoing and hasn’t assigned it a risk classification.
Which Bottles Are Affected?
Not every bottle of Amazon Basic Care acetaminophen is included. The easiest way to check is to look for the lot number and expiration date on your packaging.
The following acetaminophen lot numbers are included in the recall:
200-count bottles
ACD125040A: Expires September 30, 2027
500-count bottles
ACD124036A: Expires September 30, 2027
ACD124030A: Expires September 30, 2027
ACD124042A: Expires October 31, 2027
ACD124048B: Expires November 30, 2027
ACD125010A: Expires February 29, 2028
1,000-count bottles
ACD124048A: Expires November 30, 2027
These details are especially important because a bottle may look perfectly normal from the outside. Even if you haven't noticed anything unusual about the tablets, it's worth checking the lot number.
Has Anyone Been Hurt?
There have been no reported adverse health events connected to the recall.
A health hazard evaluation determined that the reported discoloration didn’t compromise the medication's safety or effectiveness.
However, the recall remains in effect, and people are advised not to use the affected bottles simply because the tablets look normal.
What Should Customers Do?
If you have the recalled acetaminophen, stop using it and check Amazon's product safety notifications for instructions.
Amazon says it contacted the customers who purchased the affected products and is offering refunds once they confirm they've disposed of the medication. You can also visit Amazon's product safety alerts page to check for notifications about your purchases.
Make Sure Your Pain Reliever Isn't on the Recall List
Most of us don't inspect the lot numbers on everyday medications unless we have a reason to. This recall is a useful reminder that even familiar products deserve a second look when a safety alert is issued.
Before reaching for a bottle the next time a headache strikes, check the label against the FDA's recall information. It only takes a minute, and you'll know whether the medication in your cabinet is one of the affected batches.
