Red Toolbox is recalling more than 500,000 Stanley Jr. Kids Wheelbarrow and 7-piece Garden Sets due to high levels of lead exceeding the federal lead paint ban, posing a lead poisoning hazard to children, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall only includes the long hoe and rake included in the Stanley Jr. Kids Wheelbarrow and 7-piece Garden Set, model number 1662178. The set includes a wheelbarrow, apron, gloves, rake, hoe and hand tools. The recalled long hoe and rake have a yellow-painted wooden handle with the words “Stanley Jr.” painted in black. The wheelbarrow in the set has a label on the bottom printed with a manufacturing date of 12.2023.

Consumers should immediately stop using the long hoe and rake included in the garden set. Consumers can visit Red Toolbox’s recall website, https://www.recall-rtb.com/, to obtain a free replacement long hoe and rake after filling out a form and uploading photos of the disposal of the recalled items and of the white label on the bottom of the wheelbarrow showing the 12.2023 manufacturing date.

Approximately 459,200 of the sets were sold in the U.S., exclusively at Costco stores nationwide and online at www.costco.com from February 2024 through June 2024 for about $35. Approximately 60,480 of the recalled sets were sold in Canada.

Costco said it is contacting all known purchasers directly.
