About 6,200 Gimars Playpens sold exclusively on Amazon are being recalled due to suffocation and entrapment hazards, and for violating federal safety regulations for play yards, according to a notice posted Thursday by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall includes Gimars Playpens, labeled as "Gimars Playpen with mat," with model numbers GWL-01, GWL-02, GWL-03, GWL-04, GWL-05 and GWL-06. The recalled playpens are dark gray, black and light gray fabric with white mesh sides, with a reversible mattress printed with road and animal designs. The playpens come with multicolored balls along with a basketball hoop that attaches to the top rail.

The basketball hoop poses a head entrapment hazard, and children also become entrapped under the mattress, posing a suffocation hazard.

The recalled playpens were sold exclusive on Amazon.com from May 2023 through January 2024 for about $80.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled playpens and keep children away from them. Consumers should disassemble the playpen, cut the fabric floor, mattress pad and basketball hoop each into two pieces, and submit photos to Gimars-Aftersales@outlook.com or to the online submission form at https://gimarsrecall.com/index.php/submission-form to receive a full refund.
