International Delight Coffee Creamer Recall Over 'Illness'
Who doesn’t love a dollop of International Delight in their morning coffee? The trouble is, if you have a bottle in your refrigerator right now, it’s best to check it and see if it’s part of the nationwide recall.
What Flavors Are In Question?
Two flavors have been voluntarily recalled by Danone, the parent company of International Delight: Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut – a very popular flavor.
The recall affects the 32-ounce bottles. All in all, 46,482 bottles of the Cinnabon flavor and 28,562 bottles of the Hazelnut flavor are at risk.
How Bad Is It?
This all came to a head when International Delight received complaints of spoilage and illness. Since then, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a Class II recall – the second-highest risk level.
According to the FDA’s site, this classification involves “a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”
The “best by” date on the Hazelnut creamer is July 2, 2025, while the date for the Cinnabon creamer is July 3, 2025. Both bottles have a plant code of 51-4114 R-S.
Better Safe Than Sorry
If you think you have an affected product, it’s best to just throw it away and purchase a new bottle. They were sold in 31 different states, including Maine, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, and Wyoming.
In its statement, International Delight said these creamers failed to meet the company’s quality standards, resulting in premature spoilage. They also pointed out that this is not part of a larger food safety concern. Instead, they chose to voluntarily recall these “isolated products” out of an abundance of caution while they address the underlying issue of quality.
Time to Start Fresh
If you’re an International Delight fan, there’s no harm in continuing to patronize the company. It appears as though they did the right thing by their customers. Still, you might want to check any bottles in your fridge and start fresh.
