International Delight coffee creamer has initiated a voluntary recall of its "Home Alone" Peppermint Mocha Zero Sugar variety.

The recall was announced on October 12th, 2024 and affects products distributed across 13 states, solely due to mislabeling.

The recalled creamers were labeled as "zero sugar" but actually contain sugar. This discrepancy could pose a health risk for consumers who rely on sugar-free products for medical reasons, such as managing diabetes.

For the general population, the creamers are safe to drink, but they simply do not meet the advertised "zero sugar" claim.

The products affected by the recall include all sizes of the International Delight "Home Alone" Peppermint Mocha Zero Sugar Coffee Creamer. Look for the "best-by date", which is February 25, 2025.

Thirteen states including Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin have all been affected.

While many people may not be affected health-wise by this mislabeling issuse, consumers with diabetes or other conditions requiring sugar control could unknowingly consume sugar.

International Delight's Response

Danone U.S. has issued a public statement acknowledging the recall and outlining the steps consumers can take. The company emphasized that no illnesses have been reported in connection with the mislabeled product.

"We understand the importance of accurate labeling for consumers who rely on sugar-free products," the statement reads. "We sincerely apologize for this error and are taking all necessary steps to ensure it doesn't happen again."

The company has set up a dedicated website and hotline for consumers to inquire about the recall and receive a full refund. They are also working with retailers in the affected states to remove the recalled product from shelves.

The recall is likely to cause some inconvenience for consumers who have already purchased the affected product. However, the company's swift action in initiating the recall and offering refunds should minimize disruption.

Consumers can check their creamer for the best-by date and the "Home Alone" Peppermint Mocha Zero Sugar label. If the product falls within the recall parameters, they should discard it or return it to the store for a full refund.
