If you love to online shop, chances are you've used Amazon before - whether you're a Prime member or not. The one to two day delivery is tempting and convenient for anyone who can't wait for their new items to arrive. But the fast shipping and widespread portfolio isn't the only thing Amazon is offering to it's loyal members.

Amazon continues to expand its reach beyond online shopping with a new perk for its Prime members: fuel savings.

The new program offers a discount of 10 cents per gallon at participating bp, Amoco, and ampm gas stations across the United States.

With the price of gas rising higher and higher it seems like everyday, people are constantly looking on new ways to save their money.

By offering gas discounts, Amazon is aiming to add even more value to its Prime membership, which already includes benefits like free and fast shipping, access to streaming services, and exclusive deals.

The 10-cent-per-gallon discount may seem small at first glance. However, for a typical driver filling up a 15-gallon tank, the savings equal to a $1.50 discount per fill-up. Considering how many times you stop at the gas station, these savings can accumulate over time, especially if you have a long commute to work, the gym, or anywhere else.

With discounts available at approximately 7,000 bp, Amoco, and ampm locations across the country, Prime members have access to a vast network of participating gas stations, making it even more convenient for drivers.

Amazon aims to make the fuel savings program accessible and user-friendly. If you're a Prime member, you can activate the offer by visiting the Amazon fuel savings website and linking your Amazon account to a free bp earnify™ loyalty program account.

Once activated, redemption is simple. Members can either enter their registered phone number at the pump or use the free earnify™ app to identify the gas station and pump they're using.

Electric Vehicle Charging and More

While the initial focus is on saving money on gas, Amazon hints at their future plans. The company has expressed its intention to offer savings on electric vehicle (EV) charging in 2025 through bp pulse, bp's EV charging network.

Industry vs Customer Reactions

The announcement has sparked reactions within the retail and gas station industries. Some analysts suggest that Amazon's entry into the fuel savings arena could disrupt the market.

Existing loyalty programs offered by traditional gas station chains may face increased competition. However, it's too early to predict the long-term impact.

Early consumer reactions have been largely positive. Many Prime members see the fuel savings program as a valuable addition to their membership benefits, particularly with rising gas prices. The convenience and wide network of participating stations are also appealing.

However, some consumers have expressed concerns about data privacy. Linking Amazon accounts to gas station loyalty programs raises questions about the potential collection and use of personal data.

Addressing these concerns and ensuring transparent data practices will be crucial for maintaining consumer trust.
