Shawshank LEDz is recalling nearly 10,000 Squeeze Plush Ball Toys sold exclusively at Ace Hardware stores because they can burst, releasing the liquid and glitter inside, posing an injury hazard, according to a notice posted by the U.S. consumer Product Safety Commission.

The recall includes a total of around 9,600 Monster Squeezable and Easter Squeezable designs of the Squeeze Plush Ball Toy. The Monster Squeezable toys have model number 702053 and UPC code 810447020536, while the Easter Squeezable toys have model number 768152 and UPC code 810067681520, printed on the removable tag.

The recalled toys contain a combination of liquid and glitter, and if the membrane is ruptured, the glittery water can splash onto a child's face, posing an injury hazard.

Shawshank LEDz Inc., of Gilbert, Ariz., has received two reports of incidents, one of which involved a child having their eyes flushed out by a medical professional to remove glitter.

The recalled toys were sold exclusively at Ace Hardware stores nationwide from March 2024 through July 2024 for about $5.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled plush toys, and return them to the place of purchase for a full cash refund of $5. If a consumer is unable to return the recalled toy to a store, they can contact Shawshank for a postage-paid label to return their toys to Shawshank for a full refund of $5 by check.
