Why Did Scottie Scheffler Get Arrested?

The second round of the PGA Championship was delayed Friday after a man was struck and killed by a bus outside the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

The Louisville Metro Police Department told WKLY the man was crossing Shelbyville Road at around 5 a.m. Friday and was in a dedicated bus lane when he was struck by a shuttle bus. The man, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene, police said.

The road was closed and public PGA shuttle buses coming from the Kentucky Expo Center were delayed.

Assault on a Police Officer Just One of the Charges

Shortly after the crash, golfer Scottie Scheffler was detained by police over an apparent misunderstanding about the road closures, after he tried to drive past a police officer to get into the golf club.

Released and Ready to Go

He has since been released and returned to Valhalla Golf Club. The PGA Championship announced on social media that round two was delayed due to the accident.

Spectator gates finally opened at 8 a.m., and round two was rescheduled to begin at 8:35 a.m.

Tournament organizers said all round two start times would be delayed by one hour and 20 minutes from their originally published times.
