New Menu Item at McDonald's Makes Their Burger Bigger and Better

When it comes to hamburger lovers, bigger is better. That's why the Big Mac at McDonald's is one of the most favored items on the popular fast food chain's menu.

While McDonald's isn't one to keep their menu items a secret - cue the Grimace Shake and how much publicity this limited-time item received - they recently released their newest menu item without telling us.

The Bigger and Better Campaign

In the spring of 2023, McDonald's started a campaign to make their burgers better than ever. The chain promised toastier buns, meltier cheese, caramelized onions, and a better sear.

Additionally, McDonald's CEO, Chris Kempczinski stated in an interview with CNN, "In the US, in a number of markets, around the world, having a larger burger is an opportunity…That is something that you should expect in the future."

And boy, did they deliver.

What's the New McDonald's Menu Item?

Since McDonald's promised to deliver better burgers, of course the Big Mac was going to be included. Just over a week into the new year and McDonald's released a new menu item that makes their Big Mac bigger and better than before.

Introducing the Double Big Mac.

Unlike the original Big Mac which includes two beef patties, the Double Big Mac is made with four 100% beef patties, making the iconic burger tower look even more enormous. Along with the patties, the sandwich also has shredded lettuce, pickles, finely chopped onions, an American cheese slice, and three sesame seed buns.

If you think the Double Big Mac may sound familiar, that's because this isn't the first time this menu item was released.

The Double Big Mac has already been on the menu at McDonald's in Great Britain and Canada, but it had also been released in the U.S. in March 2020.

That date probably sounds familiar to you too, right? It's pretty poor timing to release a new item on your menu at the same time a global pandemic shuts down the world.

Back in 2020, you could have gotten the Double Big Mac for just over $5, but after four years later, you can imagine inflation would affect the price. You can likely expect the Double Big Mac to cost you somewhere between $6 and $7.

When Can You Get the Double Big Mac?

While you may already be drooling in anticipation of the Double Big Mac, you'll have to wait just a little bit longer to snag one yourself. The Double Big Mac will be available starting January 24th, 2024 at participating McDonald's nationwide.

But hurry - it's rumored that this menu item will only be there for a limited time.
