Kelly Osbourne Just Shared What Her Dad Said to Her Three Days Before He Died
More than a year has passed since Ozzy Osbourne died. Kelly is still working through it out loud.
On Tuesday's episode of Paul C. Brunson's We Need to Talk podcast, the 41-year-old opened up about the last meaningful conversation she had with her father — a conversation that happened just three days before he passed away on July 22, 2025.
Ozzy sat her down and made sure she heard him.
"He sat me down and said, 'Tots, I need you to know something,'" Kelly recalled, using the nickname her father had always called her. "'No matter what happens in this life, you can live the rest of your life knowing that there was one man on this planet that truly loved you, that truly loved you for every single thing you are. And that man is me.'"
Kelly started crying. She asked him to stop talking like that. Ozzy kept going. "Because he said, 'You know, I'm not going to be here forever, and I know you struggle with people and believing you are loved.'"
He knew. He said it anyway. He made sure she had it.
Kelly said she was "a shell of myself" after his death. "I couldn't speak. I couldn't eat."
She's been publicly candid about how hard the year has been — writing him a letter on Instagram in July on the anniversary of his death. "I know you are still with me," she wrote then. "I feel you in the quiet, in the wind, in every song that stops me in my tracks."
The Life He Left Behind
Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at 76 years old. His cause of death was cardiac arrest. He had been living with coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease — the latter diagnosed in 2019, a diagnosis that changed everything about how the family planned for whatever time was left.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon, and their three children: Aimee, 42, Kelly, 41, and Jack, 40.
The final chapter of his life had its own kind of grace. Just weeks before his death, Sharon helped make possible something Ozzy had long wanted — a farewell performance with the original Black Sabbath lineup. On July 5, 2025, he reunited with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, England — the city where he grew up, where it all started. Kelly has credited her mother with making that night happen despite everything her father's health had taken from him.
Two days before he died, Kelly had posted a video on social media — herself and her baby son Sid at the breakfast table, Ozzy looking up at the camera and saying simply: "Good morning."
Three days before that he told his daughter she was truly loved, in case she ever forgot.
That was who he was at the end.
