Comments About Her ‘Dancing’ Debut Left Anna Delvey in Tears

Anna Delvey's "Dancing With the Stars" partner Ezra Sosa says backlash to the convicted con artist's appearance on the show had her hiding in a bathroom crying.

“I just want to come on here and just talk about my first official show as a professional dancer on 'Dancing with the Stars',” Sosa, who was promoted to pro dancer for the show's 33rd season, said in a TikTok video shared Monday.

After the Season 33 premiere, Sosa said he had the “best day ever” as he felt “so much love from literally every single person, including my partner.”

But his partner, whose real name is Anna Sorkin, did not have as positive an experience.

“On my end, I was feeling so much positivity,” he said. “On my partner's end, she wasn't receiving the same. I think the hardest part of my day after [the] press line, she was reading the comments and we couldn't find her. They finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I've never seen her like that, and it broke my heart.”

Although Sosa clarified that he couldn't condone her criminal history, he said that "as her partner, I wanted to give her the best experience she possibly could, and knowing that that's not the case, it really did break my heart."

Delvey rose to fame after posing as a German heiress to defraud wealthy socialites, hotels and banks. She was arrested in 2017, and in 2019 was convicted on several counts of larceny and theft of services. She was sentenced to serve 4–12 years in prison and ordered to pay a fine of $24,000 and restitution to victims in the amount of $199,000. She was released in 2021 for good behavior.

Originally from Russia, Delvey has been living under house arrest while she fights her deportation case.

During her performance on "Dancing With the Stars," Delvey could be seen wearing her ankle monitor, which is required as a condition of her supervised release.

“I know what she did was really controversial and was not right,” Sosa said.

"It's really hard for me, because this person that I'm truly just falling in love with every single day in rehearsal isn't the person that everyone sees in the media," Sosa said.

“No one deserves the amount of hate that she's getting right now,” he said. “She deserves a second chance. She has stepped up to the plate, and I just cannot wait for y'all to see how much she has improved, so tune in this next Tuesday."
