Coffee Recall Issued Due to Potential Ingredient Risks
Coffee Recall
If you can't start your day without your morning coffee, you know how important this beverage is to you and your productivity. While some people may make a daily run to Starbucks before work, some people prefer to have their coffee waiting for them in their pantry or fridge.
In this case, you may be saving some money and time - not to mention you can make your coffee your way.
However, people who have purchased bottles from the brand TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate may be concerned to hear a recall has been issued for select products.
Affected Products
Waco Bottling LLC, a Texas-based company, has initiated a voluntary recall of its TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate. The recall was prompted because crucial ingredient statements and nutrition labels on the product packaging were missing, potentially compromising consumer safety and regulatory compliance.
The affected TryBrewed Coffee Concentrate were packaged in six-ounce (177ml) amber glass bottles and distributed nationwide via Amazon and totals 321 cases, equaling approximately 3,852 individual bottles.
FDA Classification and Regulatory Oversight
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified this recall as Class III, indicating that while the labeling mishap violates regulatory standards, it is not expected to cause any severe health issues after drinking.
This classification system categorizes recalls based on the potential health risks posed by non-compliant products. According to the FDA, the categories are:
Class I: "a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death."
Class II: "use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
Class III: "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product is not likely to cause adverse health consequences."
Accurate product labeling is crucial in ensuring consumer safety, particularly for people with allergies, dietary restrictions, or specific health concerns.
The FDA mandates that all food products sold in the United States must adhere to labeling guidelines to guarantee their safety, nutritional content, and compliance with federal laws.
In response to these incidents, the FDA routinely conducts investigations to identify the root causes of labeling discrepancies and prevent future occurrences. By maintaining oversight and prompt action, the FDA aims to uphold public health standards and gain consumer confidence in the food supply chain.
