11 Best Christmas Movies to Stream This Holiday Season
If you're like me, you start celebrating the holidays earlier and earlier every year. That means more time to watch more Christmas movies! While romantic comedies aren't typically my thing, there's nothing like a cheesy, heart-felt holiday movie to help my heart grow just a little bigger.
With December finally here, it's time to grab your favorite movie snack, sit back, and enjoy the best Christmas movies to stream this holiday season!
Elf
Comedy legend, Will Ferrell puts on one heck of a performance playing Buddy the Elf in the movie, Elf. The movie follows a grown-man, who thinks he's an elf after being raised in the North Pole, navigate New York City to try to find his biological father.
Since this movie came out 20 years ago, it has been a beloved Christmas movie for people and children of all ages. The best way to spread Christmas cheer is to watch this movie with those you hold dear!

Spirited
Another top-of-the-line performance by Will Ferrell can be experienced through the 2022 Christmas movie, Spirited. Also featuring comedy star, Ryan Reynolds, this movie is a modern take on the classic tale of the Christmas past, present, and future.
Even though this movie came out only a year ago, it's reminiscent of a classic and is loved by critics and audiences alike. You can stream Spirited now with an Apple TV subscription.
Eight Crazy Nights
If you're in the mood for a raunchier Christmas comedy, Adam Sandler's Eight Crazy Nights should be your go-to. This animated Christmas/Hannukah movie featuring Adam Sandler and his typical group of actor friends, following a man who hates the holidays after a childhood tragedy and has to learn to love them again with the help of townsfolk.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Another Christmas movie on the raunchier side is the 1989 National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. This movie follows a family who decides to have their family stay over for the holidays. What was supposed to be a jolly holiday together turns into a miserable mess of a time with uninvited guests, squirrels, and an underwhelming surprise.
While the jokes are made more for adults, I enjoyed this movie as a kid - probably because I didn't totally get it. You can stream Christmas Vacation on Prime Video, Hulu, Max, and SlingTV.
The Family Stone
Want to watch a Christmas movie that will make you cry? Then The Family Stone is the perfect choice. Staring big name actors like Diane Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson, and more, this Christmas movie follows a family who is unwelcoming to their newest guest.
While mostly a comedy, this movie is also dramatic and heartfelt with plenty of unpredictable twists and turns. Stream The Family Stone now on Hulu or SlingTV.
The Santa Clause
Chances are you've seen The Santa Clause staring Tim Allen, but if you haven't, you're missing out. Scott Calvin, a worker bee and somewhat negligent father, witnesses Santa fall off of his roof and reluctantly becomes the jolly old man himself by putting on his suit and delivering the rest of the presents on Christmas Eve.
This 1994 classic gained so much popularity that it's followed by two sequels and television series, "The Santa Clauses" on Disney+. You can stream this movie and its sequels on Disney+ and Prime Video.
Christmas with the Kranks
If you can't get enough of Tim Allen, check out his 2004 Christmas movie, Christmas with the Kranks. Also staring the original scream queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, this movie follows empty nesters who decide to skip Christmas and go on a Caribbean cruise instead. However, plenty of surprises throw a wrench in their plans.

Jingle All the Way
Do you love a good Christmas comedy that can be totally relatable if you're a parent? Jingle All the Way features former professional bodybuilder, Arnold Schwarzenegger and comedy legend, Sinbad playing two fathers who duel it out through the streets of New York to get the latest and greatest toy for their children.
If you remember when Tickle Me Elmo hit stores and was the hottest item of the season, this movie will transport you back to those times of chaos. But now you can watch them through a screen on Disney+ and Sling TV.
Single All the Way
While Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't in this newer Christmas movie, Single All the Way is still a fun, heartfelt watch for the whole family. This movie follows a man who plans on surprising his meddling family with his new boyfriend, but plans quickly change when he gets surprised instead.
Featuring Jennifer Coolidge, this movie is a cute, fun, romantic Christmas movie to watch with anyone this holiday season. Stream it only on Netflix now.
Krampus
If you're in the mood for a warm and fuzzy holiday movie, unfortunately, Krampus isn't it. But if you love a good horror movie even during the holidays, Krampus is the perfect combination of Christmas and campy. Based off an old European legend, Krampus is the shadow of Saint Nicholas and comes to punish a dysfunctional family on Christmas Eve.
Grab your hot cocoa and maybe a blanket if you're spooked easily, and stream Krampus now on Hulu or Peacock.
Violent Night
The title probably gives this one away, but Violent Night is another movie that won't exactly leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside. But if you love some action and don't mind a bit of gore, this unconventional Christmas movie could be just what you're looking for. When a rich family is taken hostage in their own compound, they're surprised to see a not so holly jolly Santa Clause coming to their rescue.
