A hot dog bun isn't the most exciting part of a cookout. The burgers get the attention, the hot dogs get the toppings, and the desserts get photographed.

But, this summer, Pringles is making a very strong case for the bun.

They’re launching Pringles Pop Dog Buns, a limited-edition release that will turn three familiar chip flavors into potato-based hot dog buns.

Three Pringles Flavors, One Very Unusual Bun

The new Pringles hot dog buns will come in three flavors:

  • BBQ

  • Honey Mustard

  • Sour Cream & Onion

Instead of arriving in the familiar can, these flavors will be baked directly into potato-based hot dog buns.

It's a simple idea, really. For years, we’ve piled chips onto our plates, sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs. Pringles decided to skip a step.

Where and When to Buy Them

If you're already planning your next backyard barbecue, you'll need to move quickly.

These buns won't be showing up in grocery stores nationwide. Instead, you can claim a free package of buns when you purchase a three-pack of Pringles for $6.97 on OnceYouPopMarket.com, or Pringles’ Facebook or Instagram shops.

They’re releasing batches on July 8th and July 15th at 12 pm, Eastern Time, and you can sign up for alerts ahead of each release.

In other words, this isn't a leisurely stroll through the bread aisle. It's more of a limited-time treasure hunt.

Why the Timing Makes Sense

This launch is arriving ahead of National Hot Dog Day, one of summer's most gloriously specific food holidays.

Hot dogs already occupy a special place in the warm-weather food hierarchy. They're at baseball games, family reunions, and neighborhood barbecues.

Pringles appears to have looked at all those hot dogs and decided the bun deserved a little more personality.

A New Twist on Hot Dog Season

Will these limited-edition hot dog buns become a permanent part of barbecue season? Probably not. But that's part of the appeal.

Pringles hot dog buns won’t reinvent the dog. They'll simply add a little extra flavor to National Hot Dog Day and give us something new to toast on the grill.

Sometimes, summer food doesn't need to be practical. It just needs to be fun.
