'Pretty Little Liars' Star Keegan Allen Robbed at Gunpoint, Pistol-Whipped
"Pretty Little Liars" star Keegan Allen was robbed at gunpoint and struck in the head with a pistol outside a West Hollywood grocery store Thursday night, leaving the actor bloodied and saying he believed he had a concussion.
The 37-year-old shared video of the aftermath on Instagram, showing blood on his face as he described the frightening attack.
What Happened
The robbery happened around 9 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Laurel Supply, a luxury grocery store near Santa Monica Boulevard and Olive Drive, FOX 11 Los Angeles reported.
Allen was loading groceries into his truck when two masked men dressed in black walked up to him. One pointed a handgun at his face, while the other showed a knife. The men demanded his watch and bracelet.
The gunman then hit Allen in the head several times with the pistol before both men ran off with his watch. Early alerts on the Citizen app described the stolen watch as a Rolex, but that has not been confirmed.
"My Life for a Watch"
Allen described the attack in a video posted to Instagram. "These two dudes hit me in the head and pointed a gun at me with a knife and then took off," he said. "They took my watch."
He said the men threatened to kill him over the watch and reflected on how close he came to losing his life. "God said no tonight. My life for a watch," he said, according to Just Jared.
Paramedics treated Allen at the scene for a cut to his head. Several hours later, he posted that he was "def concussed and at hospital." He promised fans he would share another update.
Allen Calls Out City Leaders
The actor also shared security footage of the attack and used the moment to criticize local and state leaders. "West Hollywood is not safe anymore," he said.
In his post, Allen tagged Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and California Gov. Gavin Newsom. He said their confidence in surveillance cameras as a crime-fighting tool should now help track down the men who attacked him.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which handles policing in West Hollywood, responded to the scene. As of Friday, no arrests had been reported, and investigators had not released a detailed description of the suspects beyond their black clothing and masks. It was not clear what vehicle, if any, the men used to get away.
From "Pretty Little Liars" to Crime Victim
Allen is best known for playing Toby Cavanaugh on the hit ABC Family series "Pretty Little Liars," which ran for seven seasons from 2010 to 2017. The teen mystery drama followed a group of friends tormented by an anonymous figure known as "A" and built a devoted fan base that has followed the cast's careers ever since.
Outside of acting, Allen is also a photographer and has published a book of his photos.
He is far from the first celebrity to be targeted for valuables. Kim Kardashian was famously tied up and robbed of millions of dollars in jewelry at gunpoint in Paris in 2016, a case that recently ended with her being awarded just one euro in damages.
Allen has not said what the stolen watch was worth. Investigators have also not said whether West Hollywood's network of Flock Safety license plate cameras captured the suspects or their getaway route. Allen said in his post that he hopes the cameras will help find the men responsible.
