JetBlue's New Booking System Aims to Simplify Fare Comparisons
Booking JetBlue flights is about to get a little easier. The airline just announced their redesigned JetBlue booking experience that will simplify the way we compare fares.
They’re also preparing for the arrival of BlueFirst, JetBlue's first-class cabin, which will roll out later this year Hopefully, we'll spend less time figuring out ticket options and more time getting excited about our upcoming trips.
A Simpler Way to Compare JetBlue Fares
If you've ever booked a flight online, you've probably clicked back and forth between fare options, trying to figure out what each one includes.
Is seat selection extra? Can we change our flight? Is it refundable? JetBlue hopes to eliminate some of that guesswork.
Instead of showing us a long list of fare types first, the airline will ask us what kind of onboard experience we’d like. We'll choose between Main, EvenMore, BlueFirst, or Mint before selecting a fare based on flexibility and benefits.
In other words, we'll decide how we want to fly first, then choose the ticket that suits our needs.
JetBlue Booking Is Designed Around the Traveler
The updated JetBlue booking process will also have a simpler fare structure.
Soon, most JetBlue flights will have three fare options:
Base: The airline's lowest-priced ticket
Standard: Seat selection and no change fees
Flex: Additional flexibility, including refundable fares
Mint passengers will continue to enjoy a premium experience, although it won’t have a Base fare.
Rather than memorizing a collection of fare names, we'll be able to compare what's included at a glance, and choose the option that fits our budget and travel style.
BlueFirst Brings JetBlue First Class to More Travelers
The redesign isn't just about making booking easier. It's also laying the groundwork for BlueFirst, a new domestic first class experience.
Unlike Mint, which is available on select routes, JetBlue’s first class will be introduced on planes that don't currently have a premium cabin.
That will give us another opportunity to enjoy upgraded seating and other services. JetBlue says more details about BlueFirst, including routes and onboard features, will be announced closer to the launch date.
Good News for Future Bookings
If you already have reservations, nothing will change. If you’re a Mosaic member or have an eligible JetBlue credit card, you’ll continue to receive the same benefits you already enjoy.
For the rest of us, the biggest difference is that booking a flight should be easier.
Instead of wondering which ticket includes which perks, we'll see our travel options laid out in a way that should be more straightforward.
A Smooth Trip Starts Before You Take Off
Planning a trip is half the fun. But, decoding airline fare names? Not so much.
With simpler JetBlue fares and the arrival of BlueFirst, we should spend less time comparing ticket options and more time looking forward to takeoff. If the new system delivers on that promise, booking JetBlue flights may become one of the easiest parts of travel planning.
