GoFundMe for Lindsay Clancy's Parents Surpasses $800,000 as Trial Continues
A GoFundMe campaign supporting the parents of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts woman on trial in the 2023 deaths of her three children, has raised more than $800,000 as her murder trial enters its fourth week.
The fundraiser, called the Musgrove Family Fund, benefits Clancy's parents, Michael and Paula Musgrove, who relocated from Connecticut to Massachusetts so they could remain close to their daughter throughout the legal proceedings. The campaign, verified by GoFundMe and organized by TikTok creator Brandee Mulligan, has a stated goal of $2 million.
Why the Fund Was Created
According to its description, the fund is meant to help cover the travel, lodging and living expenses the Musgroves have taken on while supporting Clancy over the past three years, along with helping the couple rebuild savings drawn down during that time. The fundraiser states that Clancy's attorney, Kevin Reddington, is aware of the campaign and that the Musgroves have full control over how the money is used.
The fundraiser's description says it isn't intended to ask donors to weigh in on the criminal case itself, framing the appeal instead around the financial toll of the family's continued presence in court. It states the couple has drawn down savings built over a lifetime and never wavered in their support.
The Case Against Clancy
Clancy has pleaded not guilty in connection with the January 2023 deaths of her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan, at the family's Duxbury home. Prosecutors allege she strangled the children with exercise bands and have argued she was of sound mind at the time. Her defense maintains she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and has entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.
Jurors have heard testimony regarding internet searches made in the weeks before the killings, including searches related to psychiatric medications, psychosis and suicide methods, along with a note Clancy wrote in October 2022 expressing doubts about her parenting and her relationship with her youngest child. Prosecutors are expected to rest their case in the coming days.
The Musgroves have attended the trial since it began, sitting in the courtroom audience throughout the proceedings.
