From Rumi to Glinda, These Halloween Costumes Are Taking Over 2026

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, which seems like an excellent excuse to take dressing up a little more seriously. And 2026 has given us plenty to work with. Movies, television, music, and a particularly glamorous crop of witches are already influencing the Halloween costumes for 2026.

Before we panic-buy a pair of cat ears on October 30th, let's look at some of the trending Halloween costumes we're likely to see.

KPop Demon Hunters

We might as well start with the costume juggernaut. A fresh report from BroadwayWorld found KPop Demon Hunters was the most-searched Halloween costume in its analysis, with Rumi coming in third.

If you like to party-go as a trio, Rumi, Mira, and Zoey would make this an awesome three-person costume.

Wednesday and the Addams Family

Wednesday never vacated Halloween, so she's well-positioned for 2026.

This year, Wednesday, Morticia, and the entire Addams clan are among the most popular Halloween costumes. Wednesday gives us the braids and black dress, while Morticia gives us the floor-length gothic glamour.

And the entire family can get involved without having to dress as the same character.

The Witches of Practical Magic

If we're going to be witches, we might as well have fabulous hair. With Practical Magic 2 adding fresh life to the Owens family, witchy looks inspired by the franchise are showing up in 2026 costume forecasts.

This one also leaves plenty of room for interpretation. You can go with long skirts, velvet, lace, boots, and enough jewelry to suggest we might know something about the moon that no one else does.

Greek Gods and Goddesses

Apparently, the toga is getting a 2026 upgrade. Interest in The Odyssey has helped push Greek mythology into this year's 2026 Halloween trends.

Character like Athena, Penelope, Calypso, and Odysseus are topping the charts. Gold accessories, draped fabric, and a crown of leaves are all you need to step onto the scene like a goddess.

Elphaba and Glinda

We have another chance to cosplay our favorite witches. Elphaba and Glinda are still great Halloween costume ideas, particularly for besties.

One gets the green makeup, black clothing, and a pointy hat. The other gets pink, sparkles, and permission to be gloriously overdressed. Everybody wins.

Vampires

The vampire has risen from the coffin again, not that it ever stayed down for long. An easy approach is what people are calling “vamp romantic" a trend built around dark makeup and classic vampire styling.

This is good news if you love black clothes, red lipstick, and are willing to spend about $4 on plastic fangs.

Spider-Man

Spider-Man is one of those costumes Halloween refuses to retire. If you’re a parent, you can expect Spider-Man: Brand New Day to keep Spidey and his friends in the mix this year.

It's recognizable, kid-friendly, and doesn't require anyone to explain the costume six times at the party.

Zootopia 2

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde are another strong bet for the little trick-or-treaters. Zootopia 2 characters gives parents an easy duo with bunny ears on one side and fox ears on the other.

Bonus points for anyone carrying a carrot, even as they score oodles of candy throughout the night.

Elle Woods

Halloween, but pink. Elle Woods is also going to inspire a few costumes this year, helped by the enewed interest in the Legally Blonde universe.

Pink clothes, a little handbag, and very committed blonde hair is all you need to get the point across.

Pop stars are practically built for Halloween because half the costume work has already been done onstage.

Olivia Rodrigo’s recognizable performances give us plenty to borrow from. Just dig through the closet for something sparkly, add some bold makeup, and let the microphone the rest of the work.

Halloween Is Going to Be Busy This Year

The best thing about this year's costume crop is how much room there is to play. You can hunt demons, practice witchcraft, be a Greek goddess, join the Addams family, or simply put on enough pink to become Elle Woods.

Just don't be surprised when three Rumis arrive at the same Halloween party.
