Sean "Diddy" Combs' projected release date from federal prison has been moved once again, this time following a physical altercation with a fellow inmate that landed him in solitary confinement.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons updated its records Tuesday, Aug. 4, showing Combs is now scheduled for release from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey on Feb. 20, 2028, according to People. That comes shortly after his release date had already been moved from Feb. 23, 2028, to Jan. 24, 2028, following the reported prison fight. The Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained the reasoning behind the latest change, and officials have said release dates remain subject to further adjustment based on inmate conduct and other factors.

A Fight That Led to Solitary Confinement

According to ABC News, Combs was placed in solitary confinement following an altercation with another inmate in late July. A source familiar with the incident told the outlet that the other inmate "made a remark to Combs, which instigated the event."

It remains unclear whether Combs' time in solitary will be temporary or long-term. A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Prisons said the agency does not comment on "conditions of confinement, disciplinary matters, or other information regarding individual inmates due to privacy, safety, and security concerns."

TMZ, citing unnamed sources, previously reported that the altercation involved the two inmates pushing each other and throwing punches. A representative for Combs has not commented on the reported fight.

A Release Date That Keeps Shifting

Tuesday's update marks at least the sixth adjustment to Combs' projected release date since his October 2025 sentencing. He was initially set to be released May 8, 2028, based on standard good-conduct-time credit. That date was later pushed to June 4, 2028, then moved up to April 25, 2028, April 15, 2028, Feb. 23, 2028, and most recently Jan. 24, 2028, before Tuesday's change to Feb. 20, 2028.

Combs, 56, was sentenced in October 2025 to 50 months in federal prison after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of more serious charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, following a closely watched trial in New York. He is currently appealing both his conviction and sentence.

Amid the recent prison turmoil, the White House pushed back on a separate TMZ report claiming President Trump was "seriously considering" a pardon for Combs, with a White House official calling the report "fake news."

A representative for Combs declined to comment on the latest release date update.
