If you love to do all your one-stop shopping at Target, then you need to know about the Target green bean recall. It’s part of the FDA food recalls this week, as part of the retail giant’s Good and Gather brand.

Target Green Bean Recall

This round of FDA recalls applies to Target’s Good & Gather Cut Green Beans brand. They’ve potentially been contaminated by a foreign object.

If that sounds ominous, it’s dangerous enough to be classified as a Class II notice, the FDA’s second-highest risk level. According to the website, these FDA recalls apply to:

a situation in which use of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.

Currently, the recall is marked as “ongoing” and we haven’t been informed about what the foreign object might be.

How to Know If You’re Part of the Target Recalls

Food recalls today aren’t terribly uncommon. It’s nothing to live in fear of and the FDA keeps a close oversight over these matters. Still, it’s worrisome, as we’re always working hard to protect our families.

As for these Good & Gather Cut Green Beans, they were sold at Target locations in the following states:

  • Alabama

  • Arizona

  • California

  • Colorado

  • Georgia

  • Iowa

  • Illinois

  • Indiana

  • Kansas

  • Michigan

  • Minnesota

  • North Carolina

  • New Jersey

  • New York

  • Ohio

  • Oregon

  • Pennsylvania

  • South Carolina

  • Texas

  • Virginia

  • Wisconsin

If you happen to have one of these cans in your pantry, be sure to compare it against the following details on the label:

  • Size: Net Wt. 14.5 oz

  • UPC: 0 85239-11628 9

  • Used By Date: Oct 28, 2026

At this point, you’ll have two options: you can either throw the can away or return it to Target. Then, be sure to keep an eye on things before you purchase canned beans again from this particular brand.

Should You Be Worried?

Although nearly 200,000 cans have been identified, this recall as a Class II notice isn’t likely to result in severe health problems. Rather, they’re usually temporary or reversible if people end up being impacted by them.

At this time, we don’t know whether anyone’s gotten sick or injured from consuming these beans. But, if this is an issue you’d like to keep up with, be sure to bookmark the FDA’s Recalls, Market Withdrawals, and Safety Alerts webpage. You can also sign up to receive email alerts.

Target happens to be at the top of the list at time moment. But you can see some of our favorite brands are in the lineup like Stouffers, 365 Whole Foods, Gerber, and more.

Let’s Remain Vigilant

Certainly, there’s no harm in signing up for those email alerts. As we can see, these recalls can happen to even the best in the biz. While these Target green bean recalls may seem disconcerting, it’s not a common issue for the corporation.
